Sexy shifters and their feisty mates who aren’t shy about loving each other – so, this is an adult, 18+ reader tale.

Read on for my thoughts on Her Rogue Alpha.

Is it possible to feel the heat and chemistry rolling off of a couple – I’d have to say yes if you’re talking about Jayson and Layla.  There was never any doubt in my mind that these two were meant for each other.   They might be in the earlier stages of their romance but their actions, their concern and protection of the other makes them a definite couple – now it’s up to them to make it official.

Jayson had been seriously injured on a previous mission and is no longer in the field but working behind the scenes.  His constant pain, and his mistaken belief that he is no longer “good enough” for Layla leads him to make a very stupid move – trusting someone that he’s been warned about.

Maybe it was the pain, maybe it was his unspoken love for Layla, who knows what goes through men’s minds at times – but he made the decision to take a serum that could heal him, take away the constant pain and give him additional abilities… or it could kill him.  Shortly after the procedure he was sent out on a mission, one that should have been simple but quickly turned complicated.

Layla has returned from her first mission as a field agent to discover what Jayson has done.  She’s angered that he would take that risk and worried that the unreliable person he went to has harmed the man she loves.  So she heads out to help Jayson on his mission – only to discover that it is not as easy as he was lead to believe and now they and their charges are in some serious danger.

Her Rogue Alpha quickly pulled me into the lives of these brave men and women of the X-Opsseries.  I love Paige Tyler’s SWAT series and had intended to start X-Ops from the very beginning.  That plan went sideways when this story became available at NetGalley.  So I can tell you first-hand that you can jump into this series and completely enjoy the story and experience without having read the earlier books.  Would I recommend to do it that way, honestly no.  But it worked for me, this time.  (I’m that reviewer who says read from the beginning for the best experience).  This story is mainly focused on Jayson and Layla with mention of a few previous couples and indications of couples to come in future books.  But, I was able to be completely engrossed in this couple’s story, the danger they faced and the obvious love and connection they shared between them.  Will I go back and start from the beginning – oh, definitely.  This world is an intriguing and exciting one, and I’d like to experience it from the start.

I would definitely recommend Her Rogue Alpha to anyone who loves Paranormal Romance or Suspense – plus it’s a damned good story.  This one gets a 4.5 stars rating which will round up on the various posting spots.

*I received an e-ARC of Her Rogue Alpha from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

(Her Rogue Alpha was originally posted on KeeperBookshelf.com – I tend to want to keep my genre reviews to a blog that reflects that genre, so this review was also posted here at Shifter Raven.  Both reviews are my creation, and were written by me.)
