Ace has one last promise to fulfill.
His father has asked him to try to join one of the Crews of Damon’s Mountains. When the new Fastlander Crew starts accepting applicants, Ace puts his name in the hat on a whim. Will the new Alpha ever allow him to be a part of his Crew? Not if he finds out who he really is. Ace has been hiding a secret about his lineage since he was a child, and now the Fastlanders are getting way too close for comfort. And to add to the pressure, there’s a human coordinating the Crew’s interview process that has his animal’s attention. At first, he thinks his animal is hunting her, but the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes she is important. Corey Gable just might be the glue of the Fastlanders, and she doesn’t even realize her part in the destiny of this Crew. The problem? It’s twofold. One, he cannot under any circumstances bond to a human, and two? His life is in a free fall, and he cannot drag her into what is about to happen. If she wants to live, she’s got to stay human and stay away from the Fastlanders. And most importantly? She has to stay away from Ace.
Corey Gable has lost someone she loves.
Corey’s cousin, Hallie, has been consumed by her new life with the shifters of Damon’s Mountains, and she’s left Corey behind. The only way to maintain her relationship with her cousin is to get involved in her new life—the ups, the downs, all of it. When Corey is roped into helping with the interview process of creating the new Fastlanders Crew, there are definitely some interesting characters who want the invite. One of them is tall, dark, and mysterious, and there’s something about him that keeps drawing her in—but he has big warnings for her. She’s messing with a destiny that could be the end of her life as she knows it. She wants to heed his advice, truly she does, but there’s just something about the mysterious stranger. And the more she finds out about who he is, the more she thinks she couldn’t leave him alone if she tried.

Title: Fastlander Fallen
Series: Fastlanders #2
Author: T. S. Joyce
Published: May 17, 2024
My Rating: 4.5 stars
Fastlander Fallen is the second title in the Fastlanders series, and brings us the surprising romance between Ace and Corey (Hallie’s cousin & best friend).
Frankly, everything you could possibly want to know before picking up Fastlander Fallen is in the cover blurb. And if that isn’t enough to get your imagination fueled, well, then I don’t know what would!
I adored Corey. She’s sassy, stubborn, dances to her own drum… and she felt left behind when her BFF and cousin, Hallie, turned out to be Gunner’s mate. To be fair, though, Hallie has a ton of stuff dropped on her in a very short period of time. Dealing with her nasty, stalking ex, discovering that she’s mate to Gunner, helping him set up a new crew… That’s a lot. But, still, Corey was there for her through all of that, and to feel like she wasn’t important enough anymore was understandable.
Ace is… elusive with details. And, I have to admit, I loved watching a potential crew member try to slip him up by guessing his animal (with a list to cross off possibilities!). I was feeling superior because I thought I knew… wrong. *shoulda known better – wink* I loved how, even though he was drawn to Corey, he tried to protect her from what he knew was coming for him. Two stubborn souls who belong together.
Now, I have questions, although I sort of understand part of the “why” something happened. But I also know that T.S. Joyce will let us know more details when she’s ready to reveal them, in the rest of the series, so I can wait for details… but man, that was some twist! And, no, I try not to do spoilers, so you need to read it for yourself.
If you love a well-written shifter romance laced with humor, danger, and couples you’ll want to know every detail about, then Fastlander Fallen is perfect for you. And, of course, that 1010 was there again… how I love that reference, it always brings back memories.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
