I took a $50 bonus to clear a “dead” beast from an alley. Instead, I accidentally awakened a fiercely possessive wolf king.
In the blink of an eye, the massive beast shifted into a bleeding, terrifyingly gorgeous man who pinned me to the asphalt and growled a single word: “Mate.” Beckett is a dangerous, territorial Alpha. To survive an assassin’s poison, his magic tethered his soul to mine. The rule? If we step more than ten feet apart, our hearts literally stop.
I’m just an exhausted, minimum-wage shelter worker. Suddenly, I’m sharing my cramped apartment and shower schedule with a territorial monster. He threatens to kill any man who breathes in my direction, cornering me in the dark to whisper: “You’re mine, Little Dove.” Until his Pack’s war tracks him down. He looks at me with freezing eyes, calls me a human burden, and tears our bond to shreds.
Three months later, I am dying. Not from a broken heart, but from his unbonded Alpha heir draining my life force. Until tonight. There’s a frantic, violent scratching at my door. The ruthless King has discovered my secret, and the beast who destroyed me is begging on his knees.
But I haven’t decided if I want to be his Queen… or his executioner.

Title: Bound to the Dying Alpha King
Series: Alpha Fated Bonds #1
Author: Jasmine Fox

My Rating: 4.5 stars
Bound to the Dying Alpha King begins the Alpha Fated Bonds series with the fated romance between an ordinary human woman, except for the fact that she’s fated to an Alpha wolf shifter who happens to be the leader of his pack. A powerful man searching the human realm for his mate… and gets far more than he bargained for. Beckett has been attacked in an alley, the victim of a vicious assassin. With poison flowing through his system, Beckett’s only hope of survival is with Eden, with whom he has a magical connection… since she is his fated mate, discovered in the most unusual way at just the right moment to save his life.
Eden was simply making some extra cash by checking out the so-called dead dog in the alley. Turns out the dog was actually a large wolf, who could turn into a very dangerous, handsome man… who is now bound to her by a magic she doesn’t understand. But, here they are unable to be very far from each other at any given moment. Unfortunately, Beckett is still in danger from a traitor within his pack, and when the war comes searching him out, he’ll do the one thing he shouldn’t have done… reject Eden as his mate, believing it would keep her safe. *sigh* Overprotective Alphas! Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. When he broke the bond, Beckett didn’t know that Eden was pregnant; Beckett’s heir has been slowly draining her life force to survive since the bond was broken. Once betrayed, Eden isn’t quick to trust this man she loves so quickly again. He’ll need more than sweet words to prove himself to her… if they can ever be safe from threats again.
I enjoyed Bound to the Dying Alpha King very much. Eden and Beckett are a powerful couple, and she is certainly no pushover. She’ll stand toe to toe with him, especially when she’s right and he’s so wrong. I’m quite happy to say that there was well-deserved groveling before their eventual happy ending. Their story is well-written, intense, full of danger, emotional, and passionate. I enjoyed the secondary characters who created quite a complex world for this story. The villain was the only exception to that enjoyment. If you love a good, solid Shifter/Paranormal Romance that will keep you on edge while rooting for a couple that does really belong together, then you’d love this one.
