A Savior for the Arrogant Dragon is the second title in the Mysteries of Dragon’s Island series, and brings us Kira’s and Simon’s unexpected romance.  We’ll return once again to Max’s magical island resort, where not everything is exactly as it appears… and neither are some people on the island.

Kira is taking a two-week vacation to regroup and recover after a harrowing battle over custody of her baby daughter.  She’s not looking for anything more than the calming sight of the ocean and certainly not another man to try to control her life.

Simon is… well, not a likable person at all.  He’s arrogant, egotistical, rude, entitled, spoiled, and thinks he’s every woman’s dream bedmate.  Sure, he’s handsome, comes from a very wealthy, influential family… but it’s too bad that the rest of him is wrapped up in such an ugly attitude.  Kira finds him absolutely disgusting, reminding her of another man she was attracted to, trusted, only to discover the ugly monster beneath the charm.  She’s not falling for that ever again.

Simon should be careful what he wishes for, because this mysterious, magical island is about to deliver a sorely overdue attitude adjustment, and the Simon we first met is about to discover what reality feels like.

A Savior for the Arrogant Dragon by Serena Meadows is a good book; the characters come alive and are engaging.  Yet, we are told that Simon is a dragon shifter, and only see his dragon for a very brief appearance.  Kira and Simon’s story reads (to me) more like a contemporary romance than a paranormal, shifter romance, just like the first story in this series.  I’ve read this author’s work over the years, and generally enjoy her storytelling.  But I believe I’m going to stop this series at this point.  When I step into the shifter genre, I want more than just a brief mention of that shifter’s animal; I need it incorporated into the story and just as necessary as its human counterpart.  That’s me, and I may be in the minority, but it’s that sense of two personalities in one that draws me to the genre.  Please, don’t get me wrong, and it’s my opinion, yet for me, A Savior for the Arrogant Dragon is a good story… just not a shifter romance, and sadly, not for me.
