Damian Ledger is his brother’s keeper. He’s been tasked with keeping an out-of-control tiger shifter out of trouble, but when his brother’s tiger targets a human, Damian knows life just got way more complicated. Now he’s stuck between protecting his brother from himself and protecting a human woman he’s never met. Misty is gorgeous and driven, and completely naïve to the existence of creatures like him. He must stay in the shadows to keep humans from finding out about him and his brothers, but something about Misty is dragging him into the light. He has to be perfectly diligent and never allow his brother to see her again, but it is getting harder and harder to protect her when all Damian wants is to be with her.

Misty Antone was attacked years ago by something she still can’t explain. She has tried to tell everyone that tiger-people exist, but no one believes her. Now, after rebuilding her life, she gets a glimpse of the man who has visited her nightmares. He is asking her for help, but he has problems she didn’t even realize existed. How can she help someone who isn’t even human and doesn’t abide by human laws? A wise woman would steer clear of a monster like Damian, but the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes he has been protecting her from a danger she doesn’t understand. She falls hard for the tiger shifter and breaks all the rules to be with him, but Fate has other plans, and they are on a direct path to destroying the Ledger brothers’ legacy.

Title:  Tiger Born
Series:  Ambush #1
Author:  T. S. Joyce
Published:  July 2, 2026
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Tiger Born begins the Ambush series with an intense introduction to the Ledger brothers’ lives and the most abusive thing that could have been done to these triplets… who are still paying the consequences for that action.  This one is T. S. Joyce at her best, and yet another reason I will always pick up her next book.

Damian (Dame) has been in protective mode for far, far too long.  He’s not only trying to protect his brother, but the woman his brother has in his sights.  He’s tired, so tired.  And the next time his brother goes on the hunt, Dame is injured enough to expose himself to the human he’s trying to keep safe.

Misty knows what attacked her years ago.  No one except her uncle believed her, so she’s lived with her family and friends believing she was crazy as a bat.  But tonight everything changed when she faced that same “thing” again, only this time there was someone else there who saw and was wounded and begging for her help.  She had no idea that fate also awaited her that night, or that she was about to entwine her life with three brothers who had faced down evil… and were still fighting.

I loved everything about Tiger Born.  Dame is fierce, yet tender with Misty.  He has so much on his shoulders; he truly is his brother’s keeper.  He’s done everything he can think of to keep Misty safe; perhaps she’s safest with him.  Misty may be tiny, but she’s a ball of fire when protecting Dame.  She’s strong and far braver than she gives herself credit for.  Together, they will fight not only for their own future, but his brother’s as well.  Their story is well-written (never a surprise with this author), emotional, intriguing, and passionate.  The danger is very real, but so are the bonds being formed, both seen and unseen.  If any of that sounds like your kind of Shifter/Paranormal Romance, then you’d love Misty and Dame’s story.

I own a Kindle edition of this title.
