Cassidy Joiner is focused on one thing, and one thing only—her growing horse training business. Her Dad gave her the family farm a few years back, and now she has the challenge of making it run. When a handsome stranger stomps in asking for help training a monstrous horse, she knows she has a huge challenge ahead of her. Both rider and horse are similar, and why she’s a professional at reading horses, she’s never been able to read a man. Until now. Samuel Kaid’s name precedes him. The Kaids own the biggest ranch in these parts, but he isn’t like his brothers. He speaks strangely and clearly doesn’t understand much about people. When he asks her to train him to be more human, she knows she’s in over her head. No wonder she understands him. Sam shows her an animal side that her horse training only begins to prepare her for. Damaged monster. So why does she feel so safe around him?
Sam Kaid doesn’t know much about himself anymore. Most of his memories come from the last three years when he was living in the woods and obeying the orders of a murderous alpha. He’s convinced that he will never fit into the legacy his brothers are building because he’s not like them anymore. All he knows is fighting. When he takes a broken horse to a beautiful local horse trainer, Cassidy, he knows he’s stumbled onto someone important. She sees him. She gets him. She’s patient with his animal ways. And maybe, just maybe, his wolf will settle enough to actually keep her safe.

Title: Love Her Better
Series: Kaid Ranch Shifters #4
Author: T. S. Joyce
Published: July 15, 2020
My Rating: 4.5 stars
I’ve never made it a secret that I have loved, enjoyed, and devoured every title by T. S. Joyce that I’ve gotten my hands on. Completely, utterly addicted to her numerous worlds. Still, in all of those stories, I don’t think I’ve felt the brokenness of a man so deeply or smiled so widely as he came out of his own darkness and into the light of those who loved him, especially his mate until I met Sam of the ‘Kaid Ranch Shifters‘ in the final story of this series, ‘Love Her Better‘.
Sam and Cassidy’s story is like an intricate dance being learned by new partners. Learning the steps, understanding each other’s natural movements, relaxing, beginning to trust, no longer watching their feet but gazing into each other’s eyes as they flow around the dance floor. It was a slow, steady progression of Sam going beyond believing that he was a monster created by the crazed alpha who had destroyed his family, turned his brothers but kept Sam as his enforcer to do his bidding. Just like his horse that Cassidy was teaching to trust again so did Sam need to learn to trust – others and himself. Watching Sam, Cassidy, one horse who would earn a new name, and one crazy, wild family comes together to show Sam just how valuable he was to each of them, seeing him learn to trust, to adapt his known personality and reclaim who Sam always had been.
To be frank, I believe that ‘Love Her Better‘ is going to be in my top five favorites by this author… and she has a lot of books and characters I absolutely love and adore. This is mostly a sexy, sizzling, romantic love story with a touch of conflict that I didn’t see coming from that direction. Looking back, I should have, but when you get lost in a world you aren’t always following clues right in front of your face, right? I enjoyed the part that all the Kaid brothers, blood and non-blood, and their mates played in bringing Sam back from the brink. But it was Cassidy’s love and acceptance that won my heart in this story. If you love a really good Shifter or Paranormal Romance then this is one series that should be on your reading list. I fell in love with the Kaids, and now comes the wait to see what the next series brings us.
