I Don’t Do Witches is a standalone (for now), but don’t let the title fool you; it’s an intense, detailed rollercoaster ride from beginning to a satisfying ending.

Darius is a wolf shifter, a man who has a well-earned hatred for the witches of his world.  Destroying one’s pack and one’s family will brew a powerful emotion.  He’s become a somewhat lone wolf who now heads a successful security firm… and his most recent client is asking him to do the impossible: protect a witch.  Serenity comes from a long line of witches, a powerful family/coven that Darius hates with a passion.  She’s chosen the role of paranormal investigator, using her abilities and powers to dig out Chicago’s most corrupt entities and deliver her own kind of justice while protecting the innocent.  She’s become aware of something sinister lying beneath the surface of the city, but she doesn’t need protection from a man who obviously sees her as a vile enemy.  Unfortunately for Serenity, this man doesn’t take “get away from me” at face value.  And it’s going to be obvious that she needs his protection far more than either would have ever expected.

I was easily and quickly swept up in the danger and intensity of I Don’t Do Witches.  There’s very little time before we’re thrust into this intriguing and dangerous world.  Both Darius and Serenity are stubborn, certain their way is the only logical, right way… they’re both wrong, because working together is their strongest asset against everything thrown at them in this battle.  The villain is insidiously vile and deserves everything that’s heading their way from this couple.  Their story is intense, emotional, passionate, and filled with action at every turn.  I see no indication this world will go beyond this one story, but I wouldn’t mind learning more about some of the wolves in Darius’ pack if this eventually becomes a series.  That’s a wish, and when I find a really good, solid story, I’ll always wish I could return one day for more.  If this sounds like your kind of paranormal romantic suspense, then you’d enjoy Serenity and Darius’ story.
