When I see him carry that victim from the flames, I know. He’s different from every man I’ve ever met. Powerful. Protective. Soon to be mine. But something happens I can’t explain. Instant knowledge. A vision that changes everything!
He’s like no firefighter I’ve encountered across three continents. The commanding type. The impossibly attractive type. He’s tall and broad-shouldered. He’s devastatingly handsome. And he’s hiding something.
I think I fell for him the moment he tried to keep me from treating him at the fire. Something inside him is ancient. Primal. And that should terrify me. Desire for him is stronger than fear, though. But can I possibly accept what he truly is beneath the surface? Can I survive the truth when my whole world is about to shatter?
Devon Blackwood has spent years hiding from his birthright. A shifter prince with royal blood he never wanted, he’s learned to keep his distance from shifter politics. But some legacies can’t be escaped, and some responsibilities can never be abandoned.
Valentina Rosetti enjoys her work as a paramedic who fled Europe’s violence. She’s just an ordinary girl trying to start over. Except she’s not ordinary at all. Nothing in her life has prepared her for the impossible truth. Her gift for saving lives might be exactly what makes her a target and what makes her Devon’s destined mate.
Will Valentina’s touch be enough to heal Devon’s reluctance to claim his throne, or will secrets destroy them both before they can discover what they truly are together?
There are more than 68 titles in the Company 417 Shifters series. I’ve read several, but certainly not all (yet). They are (for the most part) standalone titles contained within the world of the fire station where our shifters work. If you’d like to learn more, you could visit the Series Page at Amazon for the complete list.
This is an adult 18+ story that contains language, possible violence, and/or sexual situations geared to an adult audience.
Title: The Bear’s Hidden Princess
Series: Company 417 Shifters #68
Author: Amelia Wilson
Published: October 30, 2025
My Rating: 4.5 stars
The Bear’s Hidden Princess is the sixty-eighth (amazing!) book in the Company 417 Shifters series, and although I’ll always recommend reading a series in order whenever possible, well, this is a story that I’ll strongly make that recommendation about. Because Valentina’s and Devon’s journey is just beginning, you won’t want to miss any future stories involving them.
Valentina is an EMT paramedic who has traveled the world, speaks several languages, and is far more than what she appears to be on the surface. Right now, she’s on the scene of a huge fire where Devon will bring out the first fire victim to her for aid. There is something about this firefighter that calls to her like no other man ever has. That connection will only grow stronger.
Devon faces fire with ease, as a shifter, his abilities make his firefighting career the perfect choice. He’s seen a lot of fires, met a lot of people, yet setting eyes on this woman with the fiery eyes, the unseen strength moves something within him that he hasn’t experienced before. Realizing that Valentina has royal shifter blood in her might answer some questions, and since Devon is realizing that he’s just found his fated mate, well, those questions become personal. There are those who are hunting royal blood shifters, and he will do everything in his power to keep his mate safe… no matter the cost.
When there are sixty-eight (and more) stories within a series, it’s hard to say one is a personal favorite… but if I had to choose just one story to recommend in this series, it would be this one. Pardon the pun, but Valentina and Devon are on fire together. They fit, they work, they belong together, and that feeling of rightness about this couple is very strong in their story. The danger is intense, but so is the passion between them.
If you love a good Shifter Romance, one that is well-written, emotional, dangerous, and full of steamy moments, then you’ll enjoy The Bear’s Hidden Princess by Amelia Wilson.
