Growling for Thunder is the second title in the Hurricane Shifters series, and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so often or felt that the hero got exactly what he deserved early on in his story… Blake might not have worried about his reputation, but he’s finding out the hard way that actions have consequences we never could have imagined.  Like, being labeled a player when he really isn’t, but having that reputation never bothered him until Izzy showed up in his life.  Funny, how meeting your mate changes everything for a shifter… including regrets.

The last place Izzy wants to be is in Hurricane Valley.  Yeah, sure, her sister has found the love of her life, and she’s about to have a kid, so, of course, Izzy has to show up for the baby shower… that does not mean she has to be happy about being around shifters.  At.  All.  And she definitely doesn’t want to be around Blake.  A man with a known womanizer reputation who seems to have her in his sight for his next conquest.  Oh, that’s so not going to happen.  Well, maybe, but Izzy isn’t happy about the fact that she’s attracted to the man who is simply annoying in his pursuit of her.  He’s probably only pushing this because she’s saying .. no.  But, what if she really wants to say yes, but she’s been burned before, and she’s not about to go down that road again.

I simply loved Izzy and Blake for different reasons, of course, but the fact is that these two deserve each other, and they deserve to be happy… together as well.  Izzy has her reasons for ignoring Blake, they might only make sense to her, but she’s sticking to her no shifters dating vow.  But one bear is going to have to work very hard to get his mate to even consider that they might belong together.  All it will take is one intense headache… and one danger to the valley.

While I loved the blossoming romance between Blake and Izzy, I also enjoyed seeing the folks from the first book as well.  We now have a better idea of the dangers facing this small, remote town of shifters… and it’s not going to be easy to keep them all safe.  Fun, sexy, a bit dangerous, and well-written (as always), I’m loving this series, and I hope that it goes beyond the three books listed so far because there are a lot of secondary characters that I’d like to learn more about… but time will tell.
