What if every love you ever lost was only the prelude to the one you were meant to reclaim?
For Makenley Black, Magnolia Springs is supposed to be a fresh start. New business, new town, new year. But when days begin to blur and reality flickers at the edges, she finds herself drawn to a man she’s sure she barely knows… yet feels like she’s loved a thousand times. And as the world around her starts to glitch and tear, Makenley must decide whether to trust this stranger or risk letting the town fall with her.
Ryan Burke is the only one who remembers.
Trapped in a New Year’s Eve that never ends, he relives the same day and the same heartbreak over and over. Each morning, the woman he’s grown to love forgets him. Each night, he loses her again. But when the sky cracks open, and Magnolia Springs’ strange past bleeds into the present, Ryan must convince Makenley to believe him… before time runs out for them both.

My Rating: 4 stars
Frozen Fates is part of the Fated for the Holidays series, and this time brings us an engaging, suspenseful time loop love story for Makenley and Ryan. Although the story does have a dual POV, Ryan differs in that he has some remembrance of every single reincarnation that brings him back to his love, Makenley, once again… for one day. As such, we really have more of Ryan on page, reliving everything that this couple has gone through over time, the many times that Makenley “almost” seems to remember him from before, and his utter frustration at once again waking up without her, only to have to try to make that connection once again. It’s very easy to feel when his frustration slips into anger at fate for what they’ve been put through.
Their story has touches of curses, mysteries, reincarnation, time loops, and a definite Groundhog Day vibe. A vibe, not a copy, as this couple does keep reliving a day… but over time, through lives in their pasts. It’s a fascinating concept, and it worked quite well. Makenley and Ryan do seem to belong together; their almost misses are heartbreaking. Their story is well written, emotional, engaging, intriguing, and passionate… full of laughter, tears, and hope. If you love a good time-travel/time-loop romance, then you’ll want to check out Frozen Fates.
