There are stories (and series) that simply will not let you go until the final word – and maybe not even then.  Dangerous Protector is one of those types of stories.

A decade ago James and Cynthia were a happy couple, newly engaged and planning their future.  Cynthia made a sudden trip home – and then broke his heart when she turned down his proposal as a mistake and she could not, would not marry him.  With no further explanation, Cynthia disappeared from his life.  Until this moment, ten years later as she carried a terrified child, the victim of a madman through the rain to safety.  To say Brock is stunned and angry is an understatement – to understand his true fury and emotions you only need to look into his eyes or see his clenched fists.

Several things set the tone for this story in the opening scene.  An arrogant FBI agent that doesn’t know when to shut his mouth.  A confused FPU team who clearly knows something is happening but not the reasons for it.  And one couple, forced back into each other’s lives without a clue how to manage to pretend to act as if the world is still normal.  Brock’s power is barely being held in check and it is obvious to everyone around him.  As Brock drives away from the crime scene he’s believing that this was a chance meeting with the love of his life, one he’d not have to endure again.  Unfortunately, he was wrong.

Cynthia never stopped loving James.. or Brock, as he now insisted she address him.  She knows that there is nothing ahead of them but more heartache as she is his new boss and they are bound to argue professionally.  Personally – well, she’ll do her best to cope.  She’d made the right decision all those years ago – the only one she could have made.  But it still destroyed them both to this very day.  The one thing Cynthia’s not sure she can handle is his declaration that he intends to win her back and never again let her go.

Dangerous Protector is an intriguing, suspenseful story that has so many twists, turns, blind alleys, red herrings and barely there clues to keep your interest high on the mystery part.  The sizzling chemistry between Brock and Cynthia will keep you glued to the story for their obvious love that shines even brighter and hotter than before.  When it’s finally revealed, part of me understood Cynthia’s decision years ago, the other part says you should have given the man who loves you the chance to make his own decision.  Either way, it made sense and wasn’t some flighty, silly reason.

A secondary cast of characters that you will (mostly) enjoy… there is that arrogant FBI guy and well, some others – but even those characters add to the tensions and believably of this intense story.  You’ll get caught up in the drama, the love story and this world very easily.  And look forward to the next story in this series.  I would have no problem recommending Dangerous Protector to any reader who loves Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance.
