Logic meets prophecy. A witch meets a werewolf.
Is it a match made in hell or heaven?

Cat Griffin finds things. Heirlooms, earrings, people. She loves helping her mountain town and her coven, if only crystal balls weren’t so expensive. But when an ambiguous vision sends her into a storm, she’s not prepared for what she finds.

Mateo Amato has a company and a pack to run from his building in downtown New York. He doesn’t have time for a winter detour to the middle of nowhere. Especially when the beautiful woman who rescues him from an avalanche turns out to be a witch. Worse, she insists she can see a future where they’re already together.

In New York, he’d steer clear of the small-town, hippie witch from a new age bookshop who talks of imaginary forces and visions. He doesn’t believe in fate, just in probabilities and logic. And logic says she’s crazy, especially when her coven breaks out the crossbows and a rival pack senses weakness, waking an ancient force that threatens them all.

But if fate is a stupid reason to stay, it might be an even stupider reason to stay away.

Title:  Crystal and Claws
Series:  Witches & Shifters: Griffin Coven #1
Author:  Lucy Piper
Published:  January 2, 2026
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Crystal and Claws begins the Witches & Shifters: Griffin Coven series with a fun, lively, intriguing romance between Cat, a small town witch with a specialty in finding “things”, and a down to earth, big city living, tunnel visioned shifter, Mateo, who doesn’t believe in visions or fate getting involved in his destiny… and these two complete opposites are going to get the surprise of their lives when fate pairs them together.

I had a blast with Cat and Mateo.  Watching Mateo come down from his high horse attitude and begin to open himself up to the mate fate has given him, and the situation that is totally beyond anything he’s ever encountered before was a fun, enjoyable, and at times, laugh out loud at his reactions journey.  Yes, there is definitely danger, intrigue, and quirky characters to enjoy as well, but I fell for this couple quite quickly, even given their totally opposite positions on life in general and more specifically in the paranormal world.  Small town witch and big city shifter, these two are about to meet in the middle, and watching their romance and their destiny unfold was an excellent beginning to a series that I look forward to continuing.

Their story is well-written, emotional, passionate, and filled with danger and intrigue throughout.  This is my first story by Lucy Piper, and I will definitely be back for more as I enjoyed how she weaves a paranormal romance that kept me engaged from start to finish.  If this sounds like your kind of Paranormal/Shifter Romance, then you’d love Crystal and Claws.
